Heart Condition Update.

G'day all,
Just checking in with my latest results from my Angiogram this morning.
There is no change to my disease, stents still will not fit, so, they are discussing further whether I will be having bypass surgery and revision of my heart meds.

Not the result I wanted, this means my Angina will continue unabated.

My trip last month to New Zealand really showed me just how bad my heart really is.
I was out of breath just climbing in and out of the helicopter, carrying our gear and rifles.
I believe this will be my last trip OS hunting, visiting is still doable, but even trekking through airports is difficult.

Thank you all for your concerns and well wishes. I appreciate all of it and am happy to give advice even though my hunting is now very limited.

Not great news, but not the end of the world either. My Pops had a quint bypass done 20+ years ago and he's done very well considering since. His legs are finally going though, so he may not be in the field too much.
I wish you well in your health journey. It can be full of fits and starts at times when things go wrong.

Thanks for the update. I wish the news was more in your favor (i.e., stents were an option.) As others have said, bypass surgery has come a long way and success rates are high. If it comes to that, we will all be praying for the best outcome. My Mom is 25 years along from a triple bypass and still doing great if that gives you a more hopeful outlook.

Glad you are still going to share your insights & knowledge with us. I always appreciate your thoughtful and informative posts.

Don't know your age but sometimes our condition dictates what must be done. Having just going through the bypass surgery over a year ago I can say it's tough but better than the alternative! I'm sure we will pray it works for the best.

Best wishes for you and prayers for continued good results from the medical Doctors. So glad that you got to go to New Zealand. I tried to get there on a hunt about 18 years ago. I met a person from New Zealand at an airport and we had a good conversation on hunting and where to go. The trip never took off. We would like to hear any stories from your trip and pictures.
My dad had a lot of heart disease and thought it would be passed on, but I am very Luckey. I think that i have some heart issues but went through a workload of tests and they (drs) and tell me that my heart is in great condition and arteries/veins are all good from my chest to my feet. Wish I felt as good as they tell me.

Tony, sorry to hear that things aren't going exactly as you would like. But, medical technology is far superior to what it was just a few years ago…..they'll "patch you up" and you'll almost forget that you had this happening to you!

My dad had a heart attack, then another and a quad bypass, then an abdominal aortic aneurism, and lived thru all of it.

On November 17, 2011 I had 3 bypass surgery at age 71. I was in very good shape when this happened and came out of it fine. I only had one night that was bad and that was because on the medicine that they had me on. I am now 86 and doing very good. I would not want to do the same thing again but for sure it's not the end of the line.
On a lighter subject since 2011 I have killed several elk.
Hopefully you can come up with a solution and get back to hunting.
