Hi Guys

I have Ar2217 powder which is the equivalent to H1000.
Do any of you use this for a 25 06. My load data book shows this to have the highest velocity for 117gr-120gr projectiles. I have a 26" barrel.

cheers LR

Maybe the day will soon come when we have some high BC bullets that are heavier than 115/120 grains. Hint. Hint. to Matrix, Berger, and ?.

My hunting buddy used H-1000 for a while with 117 Sierra bullets for deer. He found an accurate load but there was not all that much difference in velocity between it and H-4831 load he also used. Reason he used H-1000 is because he was given 8 pounds by a friend after his father that was a reloader died.

I use H1000 in my 25-06AI. I got much faster velocities with it compared to 4831. I am pushing a 115 Berger at 3350 fps out of a 26" Krieger.

Can you share the load?

I have used 7828 and have hit 3300 but pressures are getting stiff.

I feel the cartridge should be able to hit 3400 with a 115 since it is easy to get 3600 out of a 100 and 3850 out of a 75gr.

Has anyone used retumbo or slower?

I've tried it in mine, not the greatest results, got much better results with RE25, you get more energy out of double base powders with less gas, so that's what I use in all of my high performance rounds.
I am also giving 2225 (Retumbo) a try with 110gr Accubonds and 115gr Partitions, will post results when I finalise my testing.
As powders get more advanced and slower burning, I am amazed at what velocities I have been able to get within SAAMI pressure specs, Pressure Trace II is a great tool for this.

Cheers.

I load 60 gr of H1000 with FED 210. Worked up to 61.5 but felt that it showed to much pressure. The 61.5 gr load did shoot very well though. I have shot this load out to 700 yds.

I use Retumbo with good success. I prefer it over H-1000, I get better accuracy. I use Retumbo with 120 grain and 115 bullets. I even used it with 100 grain ballistic tips with good success. If you try it you will like it. Especially with that long barrel.

O.k even slower burning powder than H1000. Do you use magnum primers?
I will see how my H1000 (AR2217) work out first. I have Federal magnum primers so will try them as well.

Rover, tried the H1000 for my son's 25-06 26" heavy barrel, but H4831SC shot 1/3 MOA at 200 yds with 115 Berger VLD's. We used 210M primers. Good luck
