Gunnison Colorado elk hunt advice

Going elk hunting 2nd rifle season and have never been to Gunnison. Not looking for anybody's honey hole but any advice is appreciated. We will be hunting on mules and looking for trailheads to ride in on that aren't accessible to ATVs. Been hunting a very remote part of unit 81 for a while but have a baby and my 83 year old grandpa going this year so have to stay closer to town. Kind of a family vacation that I get to hunt on. Mainly want to see some pretty country on the back of my mule and if I run across some elk count it as a bonus. Thanks.
