2025 was a special season and a success for my 12yo son. His grandfather lives in TN and was able to fly out for his youth hunt, something that we had been trying to do for several years but health issues kept it from happening. Opening morning the three of us were sitting together glassing a big coulee when my son turned up this buck and another at around a mile away. The two of us slipped off the edge to stalk into range while my dad sat above and watched the whole thing unfold. We were able to get to 325yds and after several minutes of waiting the buck finally turned broadside and my son made a perfect shot with his 6.5CM. The buck didn't go 10yds before he piled up. The best part is while the deer was my sons best yet, he looked at me and said it was more special because grandpa was with us. I just missed getting to hunt with my grandfather by a few years so I am thrilled my son got to experience that with his.

Generational hunts are getting more difficult for my family to do. As grandpa, granddaughters pretty young and son is an executive so getting planets lined up will be tough. I truly hope to have this same joy but the clock and calendar is moving fast.

I'm pretty sure the clock isn't moving any faster@Muddyboots... you're just moving... waaaaaay Slower!

I had this immense pleasure this season of going with 1 of my sons, his wife and his FIVE SONS... altogether at one time. Trip was planned to stay a week at the cabin...tagged out in 2 days...home on the fourth! Five MULIES and a 6x7 young Bull Elk. Great memories

That's awesome! I never got to hunt with my grandfather. He had a massive stroke when I was 12. My son got to shoot varmints with my dad many times. But my son didn't develop a taste for big game hunting till my dad was well past his prime and couldn't get around the mtns anymore. Any grandkids I may have will likely be too young to hunt by the time I can no longer get around the mtns. And of course there's the 2350mi between us to contend with as well.

Hunting with the grands is a special trip! I'm fortunate to be able to take three of mine to Texas every December for a cull hunt. Love that trip!

I got to end my season with my son as well. I spent a considerable amount of time in the field without him this fall but he was out of school the day before Thanksgiving so we made a quick trip out for a day. I had seen this buck 2 other times and passed but with my son by my side we decided to take him. At a small 12 he wasn't much help for the pack out but it was still great to have him along

Mine was just 275 yards… 6.5PRC shooting 147 ELD-M just in the pocket and not an ounce of main meat lost. He looked stunned for 10 seconds and tipped over.
