My 12 year old Daughter notched her first elk tag on new years day. I had my eye on a herd for several weeks before the season opened so first light of opening day we got out there in the dark and set up on them. Right at shooting light she made a perfect 234 yard shot with the Savage 7mm-08 and this cow didn't go 20. She's pretty proud of herself after a difficult and disappointing elk hunt last season. I'm not sure she has the passion for hunting that I have but even if she doesn't stick with it, at least she has an appreciation for it and where her meat comes from.

I didn't have a chance to weigh it but this is the biggest cow I have handled! The freezer is full and '23 is starting off right!
