When it comes to factory rifles I'm kind of out of the loop.
I'm looking for the shortest barreled, lightest factory rifle I can find. Prefer 6CM, 243, 6.5 PRC. I'm kind of burnt out looking online. Carbon or steel. Doesn't matter. It's only purpose is so my wife can finally carry her own rifle. 🙄. Mine are too heavy for her and I'm not having one built. If it's a steel barrel and long, I can always have it cut down.
Any help would be great.
And no Kimber

You kinda filtered out the only one that's still on the market. Kimber, fieldcraft, remington seven all had the distinct advantage over Tikka in that their action was shorter so same barrel made for shorter more compact rifles.

Find a howa mini to handle if you don't mind picking from the howa mini cartridge list.

Long range went from obscure parts of the industry to the industry. Upside is factory vertical grip rifles setup in magnum cartridges twisted for heavy bullets. Downside is it might of killed the lighter weight hunting rifles in the process.

Hey, look at the Weatherby Camilla, it's made in the vanguard and Mk5 series. Wood or synthetic stocks. Stocks made to better fit a woman's anatomy. I bought a vanguard for my wife, she's not a hunter, but does go to the range with me. She and every other woman that's tried the rifle really like how it fits them.
Take Care

Do ya really need an "Ultra Light" or merely light? Not knowing your wife's physical fitness, nor the miles expected to walk/carry per day….makes this a bit difficult.

A true Ultra Light, even when scoped, loaded, slung, will increase recoil inversely proportional to the weight reduction. Though, the recoil can be mitigated with the use of a break….which has it's share of negatives, in additional length and noise. Adding a "muffler" will not only lengthen the rifle, but add additional weight and hinder the rifle's balance.

My wife, certainly not a tri-athlete, carried a 9# rifle plus a day pack multiple miles in the mountains everyday into her '60's. A knee injury has reduced her ability to sustain that type of activity!

Going with a "Light" rather than an "Ultra Light" may offer more rifle options and cut the cost of the rifle a little! memtb

This should answer or clear up some of the responses.
Doesn't have to be ultralight. Just be nice to be under 7 1/2 pounds scoped. We are good on the optics. Just need some info on factory rifle options.
No Seekins.
Very active and fit. It's just for our trips specific to Brooks range, nasty Montana terrain and extended trips in where packs are loaded with 5-7 days of equipment and so on. Mainly to save weight like we do with all our other gear. Just cutting ounces.
Recoil is a non issue. All ours are suppressed.
Just needing options like some have already mentioned. (Savage Ultralight, Browning Speed etc)
Thank.
