Is it worth keeping? If so, do you tan the hide yourself or send it off to someone else?

They make a beautiful tanned rug or a throw for the back of the sofa. We send them in and get them soft tanned for about $10 a sq. ft.

I go around and ask the local taxidermist if they need any capes and I sell what I can, I've got a cow elk in the freezer to tan when the sun comes out.
They are awesome rugs!!

If youve got the $ they make a great rug. I turn mine in for gloves. Lots of taxidermists offer deals like that.

A big blonde bull, hair on looks great, however mine are usually out in pieces. I have sold quite a few capes, sometime I am going to have a nice vest made, local gal does a great job

My taxi has been know to give you a free beetle cleaning on your skell if you give him a nice cape and hide.

My next one is going to the tanner for leather.
