Just got home today from Afognak. My buddy and I drew an elk tag and we're lucky enough to go enjoy the beautIful weather of Afognak (hehe). We found the elk morning of day 1. After a two hour stalk we were able to get within 200 yards and put two elk down. The rest of the afternoon was spent butchering and shuttling the meat away from the kill site. Then two more days of nature hiking through bear country with with elk meat on our back. To date it was the hardest hunt I have had the pleasure of doing but also one of the most rewarding and I could not have asked for a better group of guys to be with.
