Has anyone tried (or does anyone even make) a carbon fiber wrapped barrel for the cheytac based cartridges? Do they hold up ok and is the recoil manageable?

    Thank you

No reason they wouldn't hold up just fine. Problem is finding someone capable of wrapping a barrel the length needed for Cheytac based cartridges...

Proof Research makes them. Got mine back from Vestal’s a couple weeks ago.

This is what I would do. Talk to mike about what you’re building/thinking.

He can't do super long barrels. I've asked him, along with everyone else that wraps barrels. 30" is pretty much the longest anyone can wrap...which in my opinion is about 4" too short for something with Cheytac capacity...

Bummer... recently? I saw he got a new wrapping machine, didn’t know if the restriction was cutting or wrapping

It’s shank diameter. He won’t turn a 1.350. I talked to him before I built mine.

    A couple weeks ago.

I'm just going to flute mine instead...unless I get risky and go ahead and wrap it our self.
