Whats the Rule or the Law when it comes to getting a Bear Tag Validated after the kill. I have been told different things. Was told that it had to be validated by a Game Warden. Fine what do you do if you cant find one? Can the tag be validated by California Forest Service.
My Son shot a black bear outside of Quincy, California and we were told that the tag had to be validated by a Warden, only issue was that the closest Warden was 180 Miles away and we were told we had to go to him. What a bunch of Crap! As far as we were conserned if this is the Law then Fish and Game needs to make themselves available.
Would like to know the in's and out's and what's true and not true.................

Well I checked and found out that YES, you need to take the bear to the Nearest Regional Office to get the Tag counter signed and the Tooth removed. You have one day and the Bear can only be transported to the Office ONLY to be Validated before it can be transported to anyother location, regardless of how far away it is. What a bunch of Crap! So what it is 180 miles away and it's 85 degrees out...................I would guess that if the Meat spoil's you will be given a big fat Fine.
Why in God's name cant the Forest Service do it, now that would be logical but logic just cant be found In that State
This is what happens when A State is run by a bunch of Liberal's.

See if the Warden will jump in his truck and meet you half way......its not his gas money and he will be on the clock. You probably wont bother with bear tags again in California.....

What about a local taxidermist....in Oregon they do more paperwork than the game cops....
I called the reginal office and was told that the Game Wardens dont have the tools to preform the Tooth Removal and was told that it had to be done at any main office, But was told that I could bring in the skull as long as it was not frozen and it had to be within 10 day of the kill.

Tooth removal tool....I think that is their way of saying the are important.....NOT...
they just don't want the tooth broken....but you have two tries......and a knife works just fine....
Taxidermist will hand you the small envelope and turn around with the tooth before you can get the envelope open....

I will give them a call and see if the local Taxidermist can remove the tooth, but what im seeing taking place in California, not to sure.
I would guess that before Gov. Brown leaves office hunting will be a thing of the past in California. Its a shame because my son and his wife live off the grid in an area that has a lot of nice bucks and bears all over the place.

I went to college in northern....Redding...there were deer all over the place around town, and out of town...lots of bears...everywhere...
Went trout fishing above shasta lake with a buddy one day....next day we heard they found a man dead at the river........same spot we were fishing.....just lucky it wasn't us.....could have been us just as easily.....never went back out there...

Sounds like you shouldn't have went hunting if you weren't prepared to follow the game regulations. We have to do the same in Mt, there the areas here where it's a haul to get an animal checked in, it what you do when you hunt some species!!

They need to go out of their way for the hunter since they make up the rules not the other way around.............then they wonder why no one pays any attentions to the rules. They make the regulations such that it discourages hunters from going in the first place, which was their intent in the first place ............we go along with all these restrictions then we get what we deserve as for me i let them know how i feel that way i dont feel like the rest of the sheep

I killed a beautiful bear in CA several years ago and had to deal with this same issue. I had to bring it in to the local office within 10 days. You can bring in the frozen skull, just make sure you freeze it with the jaw wedged open so they can have access to the small little tooth that needs to be extracted.

I'm MORE than happy to drive in animals, the more data they get, the more animals they see the more you work with them the more influence you have, show up like a whining school girl you have zero influence and damaged the reputation of hunter's with those officers, being a pain in some officers butt just to make a point does nothing to help the cause!!

California is a tough state for hunters and fishermen. In spite of our population size we have some of the best and most remote wilderness areas in all the USA. The political regime wants to make hunting and fishing illegal, any incremental "inconvenience" they can place on a hunter they will.

That said, play by the rules and you can have a rewarding experience. Mess up one little detail and be prepared to pay...

. Do you think these people like Hunters? Looks like your going along with them and not saying a word, that's what they expect you to do. Just remember that when they bend you over your getting what you deserve. Just go along to get along and keep your mouth shut, your the kind of hunter they like. There goal is total elimination of Hunting in California and as long as no one complains then they can make the laws more and more restrictive. Thanks for your cooperation.
