30-06 wouldn't be a bad choice happy medium between the 308 and 300wm great bullet variety and readily available Maybe a tight twist .270 as well. Both have been killing stuff for a loooong time

Until you add Africa you could do very with several choices. Ammo available at random in Africa, I'd say .300 WinMag, .300 H&H, or .375 H&H. For me though, 700 would be to far with shelf ammo in a .375!
