Boone an Crocket is against long range hunting

What FearNoWind said. In my opinion if you can't put the sneak on them you are not a true hunter. Anybody can set on a mountain side 1200 yds. away and pull the trigger.
You ever hit an 8 inch target at 1200 yards with the consistency needed to humanely kill?

When hunting of any kind the animal does not know you are there or it does and your field craft is executed well or not and you spook em.

  • Blind hunting is IMO "harvesting" but a B&C score should count.
  • Spot and stalk stresses field craft, awareness and presence.
  • Long range hunting puts the emphasis on the other end of the hunt.
Long range has other challenges that IMO balance the equation.

Oh and I work with animals, I'm in the field every day. If you think that game animal doesn't know you are there at 1200 yards if you execute your field craft poorly you are mistaken. It's not just shooting, before you shoot you have to determine if you can get there. Then you have miles to get to and recover your take. Same difference.
