Best Value Long Range Hunting Rifle up to $5k

Hello Everyone,

I'm looking to purchase the best rifle possible up to $5k (I could go higher if it met my goal explained below or half that amount in a very comparable rifle). I figure if I am going to mostly be using 1 main gun for a very long time then spend the money now and get the best. But with spending a lot of money I'm looking for the absolute best value in that price range. I'm also open to non traditional hunting rifles like reasonably weighted ELR or MPR if need be with my goals in mind. I believe these are considered more accurate typically?

Like I also stated I'm open to paying around $2500 on a factory rifle if that rifle was incredible value and very, very comparable to a much higher priced rifle. I'll give you an example with Christensen Arms brand. I know the Ridgeline or Traverse are excellent factory rifles at around $2300 and they also offer the MPR for $2400 which might be more accurate and I've read that rifle could cost double that amount for what you get. I've seen Proof Research custom rifles that range from $4k to $7k range. This again is an example of what I'm processing with any brand and trying to make the best decision on (is that extra money worth it and which brands and guns people recommend for both price ranges).

I'm set on the .300 Win Mag for my hunting needs and for that distance range so not looking for any other caliber advice. Id like to have a 26 or 27" barrel. I'm looking for the best of the best in accuracy as my main goal. I don't mind a slightly heavier gun with an ELR or MPR.

Thanks in advance as I greatly appreciate everyone's experience and taking time to respond!

Dan
Check out Cadex rifles.

Dan the Man. I bought a factory HMR-PRO in the 300 WM. Like you, I have been a Fan of the 300 for "many" years. The Bagara HMR-PRO is there upper line and made in America. Little heavy for the "Normal" person to haul around hunting, but! Mine was about $1700 to the door. Not all that much for some of the firearms your looking at. But for me, you will not be giving up anything! Pictures are from 100 yds. Target is a Small bore 50 Yd, reduced for firming at (50) fifty ft! Not saying that everyone will be like this, but, just might!

Custom 6mm-284, best shooting rifle that I have. Defiance action $1200
Proof sendero light $800
McMillan edge- Game Hunter $750
Trigger Tech special $200
Bottom metal $300
Leupold Mark 5 $1800 (got mine used for 1200)
Rings $125 (mine came free with the scope)

Puts it right at $5000 and ready to shoot.

Add the suppressor for 800-1000 more and you have a pretty cherried out custom rifle. Trade out the carbon proof for a steel barrel and save 400 more dollars. Find some used but good parts like the stock or a donor action and you save even more. You can definitely do a really nice rifle within your budget.

Out of the box rifles—there are many. My hunting partner has a 300 PRC Seekins Havak that shoots factory match ammo in the .3s all day. By far the best shooting factory rifle I have ever seen. And just under $2000. Put a nice scope and suppressor on it and you have a really fine rifle for $4000ish and money left over for ammo. If you can find it. 😂😂

I've owned Fierce and Christensen and they are very similar and fine rifles as well. Just a few more dollars than the Seekins (carbon barrel versions are what I had). I feel the Seekins is the best bang for the buck out of those. The savage ultralight intrigues me. I have yet to see one in person or talk with anyone who has shot it. Traditionally savage rifles shoot great out of the box as well, but I have seen a couple with chamber issues; they shot fine but marred up the brass due to some burrs in the chamber.

Try PMAC Precision. Ask for Paul McCoy. Top it with a Valdada Scope. Power of your choose. It has 150 MOA of adjustments. You can get it in mil also.
Check out Cadex rifles.
I looked at Cadex. They look good. I don't know them or ever heard of them. That being said you gotta start somewhere. They reason I suggested PMAC is because he does full custom. Meaning wild cat rifles. I'm getting a 7-300 WM built in the future from him. I chose him because he shoots long range himself. I wish you the best of luck on whatever decision you make.
