best muzzle brakes

As to the recoil reduction, there was a guy who ran test on same rifle with assortment of about 20 different brakes showing amount of recoil with each brake. It was a good video with a final comparison listing all brakes

I've had a Wilson Q-comp on my 6.5-06 for a couple years. I think it does a decent job at reducing a little recoil while not being too loud. That is very subjective, of course. Other hunters who have been 4-500 yards away when I shoot it at deer tell me it has a higher pitch sound, like a smaller caliber rifle.

Also, I just put a Gentry Quiet Muzzle Brake on my 6mm Creedmoor. Haven't shot it but one short range session so far. The only impression so far is that it doesn't have much in the way of typical brake blast.

I've been doing alot of rrsearch to find the right muzzle brake for my rifle I am putting together. I would like to get pretty good recoil management and reduction of muzzle flip, while being less concussive than most of the highest perfrming brakes. The rifle is a 280 AI, which will be used as a hunting rifle (mostly pronghorn and mountain mule deer) and a long range target rifle, but I may try some NRL hunter style competitions in the future as well. What are the best muzzle brakes out there that fit my wants and needs?

best ones I've found are the srs, mdt comp, Hawkins updraft

LL! There is nothing quiet about the Gentry, despite as much as I would like to support a made in MT product.

I could not get rid of my Gentry and Vais radials fast enough ~20 years ago. Sadly, I still have one with Vais because it came with the rifle. But it's OK, I would just use it as a bench rifle.

Yup the radial brakes suck. Don't cut recoil as good as a standard brake and blow up all sorts of dirt and debris.

I bought 4 brakes from MBM and they work amazing. I didnt like the extra DB of muzzle blast. Since I don't wear noise canceling ear buds while hiking i ended up going suppressed and it was the best decision, couldn't be happier. My 338 lapua is just a target gun so its got a 5 port beast but I wear ear plugs with ear muffs over top to to not hear ringing in my ears.

Precision armament hypertap has turned my 6lb 300 prc into a 243, we have them on multiple rifles and couldnt be happier

Definitely secod the precision armament brakes. I have them on five different setups. Incredibly effective, noise is always a trade off for recoil mitigation as stated prior.
