Best LA 338 mag

I've got a nice brand new long action 700 action on its way with mag bolt face. I have several 300wm rifles, but I've always wanted another 338. Given the restriction of a standard length 700 LA, what would be my best choice for a top performing 338? I don't see myself running the 300gr bullets, probably keep it centered around the 250gr elite hunter or lighter mono bullets. Probably running a BDL style metal, so I could go with a longer box if necessary. What should I look into?

33 Nosler would be a great choice. Also depending on how far you want to stretch the gun, don't overlook the old 338 win. Can push 250's to 2800 without much trouble, possibly more with some of the newer powders and a custom chamber designed to seating the bullets out a bit.

yeah, I used to have a tikka 338wm and it was a killer for me, but I sold it. I was getting 250's up to 2800 with a healthy compressed IMR7828ssc load, probably a bit hot but a hunting low use rifle, so I wasn't overly concerned. I want to be able to stretch it out, but most likely live it's life inside 800, probably less. I really want to scorch a mono to flatten whitetails and muleies.
