Best compromise for 243 and 3006

H4350 has worked well for both for me. But when I couldn't find it, H414 was even more accurate. Bullets in 243 ran from 85-100 and in 30-06 130-200.

I have a cousin that thinks he wants to get into hand loading so I'm gonna show him the basics over the next couple weeks.

To start with he will be hand loading for 243 Winchester and good 'ol 3006, both in average hunting weight bullets.

I think H4350 will be a solid choice for both applications but would like to hear what other's thoughts are and if you had to choose one powder for both cartridges, which would you choose?
H4350 is a great choice

Are you serious, For a first timer loader two different rounds you suggest one of the most temperature unstable powders of all time, SMH
I've never had that much trouble with rl22... 80 fps between 0 and 100 in my 300win (3200 fps even cold and 3280 fps hot with a 165 Hornady Interlock). I've seen a lot of the IMR and a few H powders do worse... I'm sure in some applications rl22 could suck, but a lot of powders are that way.

I've had good results with IMR4350 with 150gr bullets, but like a slower powder for heavier bullets in the '06. 100gr bullets in 243 Win seem to like slower powders like Imr & H4831. If you stick with 175-180gr bullets in the'06, I'd go with IMR4831 for both. Or perhaps give Superperformance a try. They're close in burn rate. R19 is close as well but hard to find and relatively expensive. Lately, I've found H4831 slower than it was 20 years ago. Good luck!
