First post ever. Need advice about VLD Bullets and case preperation. I use berger bullets and prep my cases with a VLD deburring tool ( inside ). I also use several non VLD bullets of the same caliber. My question is, once you prep the case with the VLD tool, can you use the same case with non VLD bullets. If so, does this effect the bullet seating?

Welcome to the site. As I see it, the VLD tool will not have any effect on a non-VLD bullet. I use a VLD tool on my brass with the A-Max bullet.

The 28 degree debur tool is intended for use with boat tail/VLD bullets, but is OK for flat base.

There's no relationship between VLD bullets and VLD deburring tools.

They're no more related than a No. 2 lead pencil and a No. 2 barrel contour.

    Welcome to LRH.

Richard, page 27 of my Sinclair catalog states "This chamfering tool features a removable 28" carbide cutter mounted in our large, comfortable Sinclair handle. Intended to prepare cases for VLD or boat tail bullets, but works fine for flat base bullets"

Gene beat me to it . The term "VLD" I think means Berger, although many other companies mfg. low drag boattails.

Then, I stand corrected and beg forgiveness.

In fact, RCBS, Lyman, others make similar claims.

Perhaps someone can explain how they are more applicable to VLD/boat tail vs flat base?

My own experience in using the VLD chamfer tools is that they make for a smoother chamfer and smoother seating of all bullets.

Perhaps it's just me, but I think someone would like to sell you 2x tools when one works best?

Not just Berger. Here is another VLD manufacturer:

    JLK Home

I believe Cautericcio also makes VLD's
