I don't think you need to drill and tap for the Near rail, it seats on the dovetail with a hammer.

Near Mfg makes both styles...tap on and one that would require the action to be drilled and tapped.

For me, I would not trust the one that just gets tapped on with a hammer....give me some screws everyday!!
