Bronze brushes no more. They polish the bore. Anything polishing the bore is not good. Bores got to stay free of carbon and copper build up, but not polished slick. Bullets like dirty barrels. Copper likes to build on slick surfaces
Procedure to maintain barrel equilibrium:
1. Soak barrels in carbon solvent for an hour or two
2. Scrub with nylon brush 10-15 passes.
3. Flush with alcohol soaked patches
4. Copper solvent soak for appropriate time per solvent. I use Hoppes black for 2 hours.
5. Flush with alcohol/degreaser (Gun scrubber, K&N oil filter cleaner)
6. Patch graphite throughout bore.
Fill the bores with "Muzzle Jimmy" and "The Plug" from Patriot Valley Arms. Muzzle Jimmy for threaded barrels, and The Plug for unthreaded or fixed brakes. Either one I use an AR15 gas tube to fill the bore. Pour the solvent on the gas tube and the gas tube delivers the solvent by gravity into the bore with no mess.
This is a barrel ready for install. I just used it for illustration. I don't pull barrels to clean...
