Baby Possums

Have a good friend that lives on the AR side of the Mississippi River. He and his wife were driving home last night and saw a Mother Possum get hit by a car and she died at the scene. The young ones survived and are getting nursed back to health.
Anyone want one for a Pet?

We already have several pet Possums and Coons so we can't any more.

I've caught MANY of those critters while trapping squirrels. The critters get more vegetables out of my organic garden than I do!

My wife isn't too keen on me killing anything that is caught in the yard so I have to take them a few miles away and release them. What a PITA.

Yes Possums and Racoons are the main killers of Turkeys. They get to the eggs before they hatch.
If you keep them as a pet they won't be eating the turkey eggs.

I had one many years ago. I got it under similar circumstances. It was the same year we had the 17 year locust and that little guy loved to eat them. I kept him in a kinda flimsy cage outside and he spread the bars a got away. He was quite friendly while I had him.

I raised one when I was a teenager. Raised a Coon, skunk, squirrel, even had a pet beaver one time.
The squirrel was by far the best pet. Kept him several years.
Always had a few snakes, turtles, and baby gators in an aquarium Livin in the swamp had its perks.

Mom said the beaver had to go…..woke up one mornin and all the kitchen table chair legs were chewed off.

I believe its illegal in TN. I understand skunks make great pets.

When I catch them in dog proff traps I read the charges against them before summary judgment. The raccoons say that they were framed and have a witness that they were some where else when the crime was committed. The possums just shrug and say get on with it.

These little rascals are getting bigger. Doubling and tripling in weight growth. They are still drinking milk, but their teeth are coming and some are starting to eat wet cat food.
