Anyone have any experience rifle hunting elk in the rut here? I'm thinking about giving it a shot next season if the border ever opens up.

The elk populations have really taken a slump in the past couple years. Bunch of factors to it, but things are just in a decline. East kootenays a 330 bull used to be fairly common, now a true 330 bull is pretty rare. Most legal bulls now are under 300". West koots you still see a few in the 350+ range, not as common as they used to be either. But really not many areas seem to be what they used to be.
That said there are still some nice bulls pulled out of the west kootenays every year.
