I have a couple of 300WMs, a couple of 7RMs, and the latest 300WSM chambered by Alex Wheeler, bedded by Tumbleweedsrifles.com. The 300WSM shoots small. It will be go to for mid range shots using the 185 Jugs. The new build should serve me well for occasional across the canyon shots.

Can't leave things well enough alone, got the wild bug to do a 300 PRC. Talked to Alex about his AW2 reamer, and what could be a good bullet match for 9T 3B finish at 26... 230 Hybrids.

For another fun thing I ordered a box of 201 Afterburner S3. They should be there already.

The reamer is on hold at USPS while I am out, 2 3B 9T barrels were already delivered, a 250 count box of 230 Hybrids is on the way. A box of Lapua is also on hold at the USPS. A FL bushing die set is on the way. A standard FL die set may have arrived already. A LE Wilson seater is on hand.

For primers, I have a good supply of 250s, and 215Ms. Powder; 8# of H1000, 8# of N570, 8# of LRT, 6# of Retumbo.

For contingency, if unable to get the precision from the projectiles mentioned, I still have a good supply of 215 Hybrids to fall back to.

The plan is to unscrew the 7RM barrel from the Atlas Lite, and use the action to headspace the 300 PRC to it. Brake will be another SRS Ti.

For chambering I will add a new reamer holder. Though I have a couple of my DIY reamer holder/pusher, plus a couple of commercially built ones, the JGS being one, I plan to copy Alex's version. The newly built cutting oil flush system has been baptized on a handful of 223 AR15 service rifle NM contour. Will see its first use on a bolt gun barrel on this project.

Stock is another McM.

May the fun begins.

I welcome any input on tips and tricks on chambering and loading and precision loads for the 300 PRC.

Finished the rifle today.

Tomorrow is the moment of thruth. Will break in and center scope with 1X fired Hornady, 230HT and LRT.

Plan pressure test with 230HT, virgin Lapua, start with 215M because I have plenty of them. Powder: will start with LRT, Retumbo, and N565. The following outing will try H1000, and N570.

Will do the loading in the club stat house situated behind the 200 yard line. Load and shoot.

First 3 rounds through the barrel. Centering the scope after boresight. On a new set up, I adjust in one direction to see how the POI looks like. Straight movement (not worried about click precision at this stage of the project) is promising. System appears to work; rifle, ammo, shooter.

Cleaning barrel. Wind came crashing through, blowing stuff off the benches. Will center for X with the centering ammo, then do ladder using virgin Lapua.

Now that I have resemblance of zero enough to dial up to 500 and not take the chance of damaging the electronic targets, I'll give LRT one more run, then decide on what powder to try next. I'll try Retumbo, H1000, N568, and N565 before I'll dip into the N570 that serves my 300WMs very well launching the 215HT.

570 is a good powder but it is really hard on the throat. keep us posted on your progress. i burned a ton of h1000 and retumbo in my 300wm til about 3500 rds then rebarreled to 300 prc. really bummed cuz she was still shooting awesome but was running out of neck to hold the bullet. can you tell me more about the aw2 reamer and what it is different from the other reamers? looking ot buy my own reamer for the prc. already 600 rds thru the new barrel in 3 months. looking for reamer and blanks.
thanks
