Beginning load work up with the 147 eldm I have both H4350 and reloder 16. What are the opinions on where to start this bullet from the lands and what powder charges for both powders? This will be in once fired hornady brass and federal 210 match primers. Any and all advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I'm running 42.2 gr of H4350 with the 147 eldm. I think I'm 30 thou off lands. Also 210M's and hornady brass. I think I'm right around 2660fps. Sea level. 24" tikka ctr. I'm not showing pressure there but obviously work up from manual data.

RL16
.050 from the lands as mentioned.
start at 41grs of RL16 and use the satterlee method from there.

my AR 10 with Hornady brass and cci primers likes 42.1 at 2.805" (way more than .050 jump) for 2670 from a 22" barrel. My sons 24" bolt gun and Lapua brass likes 41.9 at 2.875" for 2789 from a 24" barrel.

I shoot 147eldms in 1000 yard compatition. I use 44 plus grains of h4350. I get 2850 from a 29 inch barrel. I'm throated long so my load is adjusted for that. If you want more speed rl 26 will get the 147 up to 2950 in a 24 inch barrel. Sounds impossible but I've done it in many rifles now. I had mine up to 3050 before it spit a primer. I still get better groups at yardage with h4350 so that's what I use. Lapua brass and 205m primers.

They shot best for me at .040" off.

Of course, do your own load work up for your rig. I recently did load development on a 6.5 creed and a load dead center between starting and max load in a Hornady book killed Lapua SRP primer pockets in 2 firings, that specific gun seemed to have a very tight bore.

Appreciate all the info, I've fooled with the eldx and Reloder 26 last year when I started to read of people hitting 3000 from a 26" barrel and with my 24" barrel I found a very nice load at 48.9 for a velocity of 2980. I was fortunate to source another lb recently but I'm debating trying using it in my 300 win or 270 since they are both my go to hunting rifles. I am surprised to hear no reloder 16 in anyone's recipes. It worked incredibly well in my buddy's rifle shooting 140 eldm. Almost everything went under an inch from a savage model 12, 26" varmint rig

I went back to edit to add a second RL 16 at the start of the post. I use RL16, but the amount of RL16 and H4350 have been very close when I see compairsons. I went to rl16 when h4530 was short a few years ago, but then didnt go back when 4350 came back.

I got to 48.2 of RL-26 in a 26 inch Howa barrel loaded long before pierced and missing primers told me to drop back to a lower node at 46.8.

I haven't checked velocity but suspect at 46.8 I will be better off with another powder.

I find the 147 not picky in seating depth. I have not had to go more than .020 off to find good accuracy. These are seating depth test. The numbers under the groups are ogive length.

Precision rifle blog just had a couple articles on Bullet jump...
great articles and least sensitive (Good) jump was around .050-.070 Inch.

Great article! I like how it easily translates to the ladder method of load development, which almost all of us are familiar with. Why not do it with bullet seating depth? Fantastic.
