7prc vs 300prc

Looking for you guys to convince me one versus the other. I'm leaning towards the 300 prc because it will absolutely kill anything in North America at long range and I don't have to second guess. It's also a sledge hammer. But a 7prc can basically do the same but out to less distances.

For the 300 prc I'm looking at shooting a 215 or 230 Berger
And the 7 prc I'd shoot the 175 Berger
Both 22" suppressed

Mainly elk and deer hunting.

...how about 7mm rm vs .300 win mag...tons to read and watch videos about, a 75 year debate, chances are both of these old warriors will be around a heck of a lot longer than those two promotional gimmicks. Brass and factory ammo can be found anywhere and both are time tested and hunter approved without question. Any slight fps difference I promise you will never be noticed in the field...just a thought.

This - although a 24+ bbl with a 8.5 or 9 twist will burn most of it, a 22" bbl with 80 grains of powder in a 300 case is a waste unless you are dead set on shooting 200 grain and larger bullets. Even still, run at least a 24" bbl in both. Magnums are magnums for a reason, we are trying to get the MOST out of them. Engineering less is a waste IMO

I'm a 7mm snob. Higher bc's and sd's in a lighter bullet. If you cant kill it with a 175 it doesn't need killing.

Definitely understand that with the longer barrel getting a better performance. But want to run it suppressed and running a 26" barrel with a 6" suppressor is a little too long for me.

Coues deer and mule deer. I can shoot out to 800+ on a monthly sometimes by weekly basis. The higher bc bullet with less wind drift is attractive in the 300 because I have to shoot across canyons sometimes.

If deer sized game is all you are aver going to shoot - 175 grain bullets are all you are ever going to need, even if you needed one that big. For the BC yes however not for the critter size and weight at those distances. I hunt them both and have taken them both out to 900 yards with 6mm and 6.5s

I know you said one or the other but really, for that purpose, something in the 6.5 series with 140 or so grain bullets is nearly perfect.

I like 20" for non magnum and 21-22" for magnum. I can't decide between the 7 and the 300, I want them both!
