7mm Caliber Suggestions Wanted

I have a Sako L579 with a Lilja barrel in 7mm/08 Ackley. Barrel only has about 200 rounds through it. I wanted to rechamber it to 7mm WSM but my gunsmith is a little uncomfortable opening up the bolt face for the larger rim. Does anybody have any suggestions of 7mm calibers for this short action (Sako Medium) that can get the velocities of the 7mm WSM?

I don't know what speeds you are getting with your AI. Probabaly around 75fps over the 7-08 if you are loading somewhat safetly. You could go with a 284 Win. and get another 50-75fps and you wouldn't have to fireform as factory brass is avaliable. capt david
