Caliber suggestions

Your on the right trail thinking 7mm wsm. I've had all the wsm's, and actually like them. But the 7 is a definite standout. Load it with 162s and powder of ur choice to reach 3000fps, u won't be disappointed

7 WSM and turn the other one into a 6 WSM just for fun! That said, I think the 270 WSM is pretty good and you are duplicating capabilities for the most part with a 7 WSM or a 300 WSM...

How does the 7WSM compare to the 7SS that elkaholic was referring to?

Here is a pretty good discussion of the 7SS:

Here is a discussion of 7WSM vs the standard 7 Rem Mag:

https://www.longrangehunting.com/threads/wsm-vs-standard.176797/

In general, Rich says his SS cartridges will match the performance of the standard long action belted magnums. In comparison to the WSM or SAUM cartridges, the key difference is that the SS cartridges can be loaded with heavy for caliber bullets to an OAL that can mag feed in a short action. IOTW, the SS cartridges are TRUE short action cartridges. The WSM and SAUM are not.

6.5 WSM for improved ballistics over the .270 bullets. Or go with 7mm or 300 for bigger weights.
