There are a few threads about the 7mm Blaser Magnum but none to compile reloading data. I have some loads worked up but haven't tested them yet and can post my findings. Wondering if anyone has tried reloader 26 in this? Interested in any data you got!

Please post bullet, powder, primer, barrel length, Chronograph used and any other pertinent info.

Thanks!

I've got an improved 7mm blaser mag. My fire forming loads are as follows:
64 rl-26 with 180 eldm
65.5 h-1000 with 180 eldm
69 retumbo with 180 eldm
All with Norma brass, fed mag primers, have not chronoed fireforming.
All light loads.

Irrelevant to your inquiry, but my improved shoots 64.5 rl 26 with 180 lapua Scenar at 3000 via magnetospeed
64 rl 26 with 195 BERGER at 2900 via magnetospeed

64gr of rl 26 seems pretty low. Are you seeing any pressure at all with that load of rl 26 with the 180 or 195?

I was looking at rl 26 data on the alliant site for the 7wsm and they put a max charge with a 175 at 70 grains.

The gun I have shoots 64 rl-26 with 180 eldm fireforming into groups less than .2 consistently. Absolutely no pressure at all. I never tried additional powder with that bullet because it shot so good and it was fireforming.

With the improved, I can get up to 3150 fps with a 180 Lapua Scenar and 3025 with a 195 Berger and rl-26 and am just getting heavy bolt lift and its barely showing on my primer.
With the loads I have at 64.5 rl-26 for the Lapua Scenar 180 and 64 for the 195 Berger the SD is less than 10. SD on the 195 Berger last week was 4 for 5 shots. I am running a light load in the improved, but it is very, very accurate.

I filled a normal 7mm blaser case with Reloader 26 UNCOMPRESSED to the neck shoulder junction and that was 76 grains of powder! I'm hoping with your info and my longer freebore I can get good velocities with the standard 7mm blaser case since you are not seeing pressure at the 64gr load.

So i did some load development yesterday just looking for pressure. No accuracy testing. That info is all below. As always use at your own risk, start low and use the appropriate safe reloading practices.

Lets just say that RL 26 in the 175 was a solid 100FPS faster than H1000. As long as it holds up to a realistic temperature swing it will be the powder of choice.

Can someone explain this, I am using 64 grains of RL-26 in an improved 7mm blaser magnum and getting about 2900 fps? Compared to Midnightmalloy's 2763.

Longer throats can take more powder to reach the same pressure. Or to answer your question, my long throat and 1.5deg lead angle is the reason for the lower velocities.

How long is your barrel?

Also I'm using a magnetospeed to get my velocities.

26 inch

Fireforming load of 180 eldm with 64 grains of rl-26 chrono 2940 fps.

That's actually pretty fast for only using 64 grains of powder. Are you seating these right at or touching the lands by chance? That would explain why you are getting those velocities with only 64 grains.

.010 off the lands

I am very interested this cartridge. Do you have any new information? Accuracy load?
