Looking for some help for a 7 RUM that will be running 180 ELD-M's. Will be using a Proof CF 26" 1X9 twist barrel and Wyatt's extended box mag. Any help with powder selection and or predicted velocities would appreciated.

MagnumManiac's powder choices are correct. This is my selection order, 1st: Retumbo, 2nd: N570, 3rd: H1000. I have US 869 haven't used it however, I've heard it's temp sensitive and dirty. Good luck, Start slow.

h50 bmg is what I'm using with a 175 eld-x in my 7rum. She's an 8" twist Brux with a short throat though... I suspect a bit more cowbell in a longer throat would be the same.
If you want to run 140's I suggest rl25, but 175-180 needs (preferably stick- ball might work too in a pinch) 50 cal powder... I've fried a couple pipes coming to that conclusion. I've given up on h1000 for anything more overbore than a 300win. Retumbo kinda worked with 160-168 grain pills in my last barrel, but I wasn't happy with retumbo in this barrel. If you can't get to pressure with the case 90% full or better, you will have consistency issues in a 7rum.

As far as vel., I'm idling my rifle and getting 2900 fps. I'd guess 3100 is on tap here as usual for a 7rum and a 175-180.

I agree with your assessment of H1000. It's not 2006 anymore, there are far better powders that are slower and better suited for the big boys.

Okay I have 2 different loads for 185
Juggernaut out of my 300RUM.
94.5 Retumbo 3200 mild load.
95.8 N-570 3350 getting Warm.
7-Rum 143 Hammer Hunter 88grs.
N-560 3400 mild but Bugholes.
101grs US869 168gr. 3150 mild but Bugholes. Always start lower than what people have.

I have loaded for my 7 Rum for over 20 years and 2 others as well, I am on my 3rd barrel on my rifle. While many powders will work I have had the best luck with Retumbo. All of the rifles and all 3 barrels of my own all shot Retumbo very well and all like to be near a max load. For me that has been around 91.5 to 93 grains. I have shot both the Berger 180 VLD and the 175 Elite Hunters with great accuracy and devastating terminal performance. My last barrel was a 1-9 twist Hart barrel and it was very fast, pushed both the 180 and 175 over 3300 fps. I would expect at least 3200 with the 180 ELDM. Good luck and happy shooting! Jason

To all who replied. Thank you very much. lets me know I'm on the right path.

To anyone shooting the 180 ELD-M. Have you found a seating depth that it likes?

The ELD- M are pretty forgiving. I would start at max mag length and work your way back.
What works in my gun may not work in other guns.
