I have done some reading and I wanted to try some 7828 i dont see much about this powder on the forums and just wondered why it is not spoken of that much? I have heard of people talking about temp stable powder and for those of you that have tried it is this not a temp stable powder? I live in AZ so i change from 3500 to 5000 very easy just wondering if this powder is not the way to go. I will be loading 168 bergers out of this. If anyone else as any good load recipies for this caliber and 168 bergers please post.

Thanks for all the knowledge and help this site has

I have been loading the 7mm Magnum for 20 years. I just got a box of Berger 168 for christmas, but haven't loaded for them yet.

I have used 7828 exclusively but with 150.

Barnes 150 with 68.5 gr of 7828, Fed 215 primers gives me right around 3000 and very tight groups.

Please start much lower in your rifle.

I have used 7828 for 150 grn and 162 grn amax and found that it works best with mag primers. I like cci250 (easy to get here).
Useing my pet loads 67.0 grn for both I have not noticed any change in impact location or grouping so I figure that the velosities are pretty stable. I cant comment on altitude since around here all of shooting is done between sea level and 500 feet.
But in my rifle when I go to the 175 grn bullets 7828 is not good, there I use rl22 and rl22 shows a big drop in the winter 2&1/2" @100 yrds that is useing 60.3 grn rl22.

7828 will work well in a 7rem if you are shooting 150 grain or heavier pills. I shot sierra 140's with it for a while, but the last 7rem got unstable accuracy wise with it in cold temps(below 50 or so and the accuracy went fron 1/2 moa to 2 to 3 moa). The same rifle shoots the 150 nos bt's with 7828 to 1/2 moa all the time no matter the temp.. It's a boring gun, but it works.Rl22 works well in my rem, but I'm saving it for my 300 win and 7stw. I've been burning 4064 in this rifle with 140's- 3100 fps and acceptable accuracy at all temps.(I've got a lot of 140's- they gotta go somewhere).
