6.5 SHERMAN SHORTS WITH 156 BERGER

I dont know whats going on with those barrels but I can run at 3100' with my sst with N565 and its VERY comfortable at 3050'. On the other hand, there is a client who called recently and is having trouble getting any speed our of his "sst" and his prc was even worse! Both were running Proof barrels. Here was my ladder test. I had earlier run a Satterlee up past 3100' and decided 3100' was about max! My barrel is a 26" 8 twist Bartlein.

That's all I loaded for today
(This was just now sent from another client with a new build. These were initial results with "no pressure recorded yet" in his words. He is increasing the load and working on up the load)
This was with a 147 eldm. I have found that they run pretty close to the same speed and pressure as the 156. This is no doubt due to the longer bearing surface on the 147.

In the SST I can run the 147 ELDM With N565 at 61 grains to 3060 in mine with no pressure yet. Compressed load. Barrel is still very new. Im working with RL 26, and N565 with the heavier bullets and RL23 in the 130's. N565 is shooting the best for me with very little SD.

Weird, my barrel is slow and pressure prone way before anyone else's.

Ran a ladder today with 565 and 140s and pressured out at 3021fps max. I'm hoping my accuracy node will reveal itself around 2975-3000 FPS.

I wonder if I have a weird tight bore or something?

How many grains and what bullet and OAL are you at? Have you measured to see how far off the lands you are? I feel like I can't get enough N565 in the case to ever see pressure.

My tops speed so far is 3084 with 61 Gr N565 with NABLR 142 gr. 3060 with 61 Gr N565 with 147 ELDM. Seems like the ELD drag a bit more than the NABLR. Didn't have pressure with either.

56 grains 565 with 156 Berger is my absolute max. That's heavy bolt lift and shiny ejector marks.

I get that same pressure .010 off or .100 off.

That's interesting. It goes to show difference barrels truly run differently. I started at 59 Grains for my work up.

Hopefully will kill a few coues bucks this year and then torch it down on steel in Jan and feb. have 100 pieces of brass but a little timid on chambering another barrel.

I need to get some N565 and try it. I hit pressure @ 59 grains of H1000 @ 3007 FPS. I shoot 140 Elite hunters at 3225 with no pressure and great accuracy. Makes no sense. I saw the same issues with 150 SMK's.
