Looking for some real experience with 6.5 PRC SI, have a few components I might put to use in 2026, cartridge looks like a great one, a plus is Lapua brass is available. My plan would be a 20 inch barrel for hunting, to be shot suppressed. How much more are you gaining in FPS, with the other added benefits of improved cartridges? Likely run 140s, maybe 156s. Thanks

Have one. 20" 1:8 Suppressed. Getting 2980 with a full case of rl23. No pressure signs. Could go faster with a faster powder but shoots great. Mild recoil. And I like the case full, so why change it?

Running low on rl23, so when I'm out I may try 4831sc, h1000, or a Vv powder. Maybe 165.

It took 4 deer and an elk this year. All 1 shot kills no tracking required. To say I'm happy would be an understatement

Also worth noting, it shot factory prc brass and 140 bergers 1/2 moa. So fireforming doesn't need to be "a waste" you can hunt with fireforming loads no problem.

Lance's post were a big help for load dev and he was very helpful and reassuring in going down this path. Glad I did.

Thats awesome, this is what I'm looking for!

Also have a 20 inch. Shoot these groups this morning ignore the 2 in the middle. They were 156 Berger's. Top group is h1000 and 153 Berger's at 3015 and bottom group was 565 at 2950. I've tested n560, 565,570, and h1000. I ran 135 atips last year at 3150. This year went to 156's and they've killed well.

Is it fair to say to expect 100-125 fps over a straight 6.5 PRC?

IMO this is a copy cat to the parent cartridge of the 6.5 PRC which is the 6.5 GAP 4S - with nearly the exact same velocity and capacity improvements of that 11 year old cartridge. Nothing new here

That's ok, nothing new in most cartridges, I still enjoy playing with different chamberings.
I'm trying to get info to plan my build and specs, trying to keep the thread focused.
Thanks
