Any info on freebore for a 6.5 PRC built on a LA Rem 700? I am putting parts together for a build and thinking about getting my own reamer. Thinking bigger bullets...Berger 144 and 153.5.

Thanks,
Tod

I don't have any info on the freebie, but when I was looking for a mono bullet I found that the fastest twist recommended was a 1-6.5 to match up with cutting edge 143 and 140 I think. So take this in consideration when you order your barrel

I already have the BBL.....1 - 7 TWIST. I plan on shooting the Bergers I already have on the shelf.

Thanks

The 188 freebore of a 65prc is plenty for the 144s. 153.5 will require more, a lot more. 240-250k freebore is about right 153/156s. It also works well with 140-153 Hornady bullets. It'll be pretty long for about anything else though.

I did a longer freebore for my 338 RCM (essentially a necked up 6.5 PRC) to shoot 300 gr Bergers in a long action. Fits and feeds great and takes advantage of the high BC bullet. I think you should do it.

Don't need a custom reamer just a throating reamer which your gunsmith should have.

Also I've found the newest Berger 156s have a bc of around 342g7 in my 7.75tw 65saum at 3000fps mv, 3500da. Not the advertised box bc, applied ballistics has it at 335g7. The 153.5 in my 7.5tw 65creed is running a legit 352g7 to 1200y. I'd run the 153.5 and open up the nose if you're looking for the absolute most bang for your buck.

Actually...I am going to "waste" all those beautiful Bergers banging steel. I have steel out to 1500 on my range and have another spot to go 2200. Probably use one of my Edges or 300 WBYS for the ELR stuff. Been "out of the game" since early this spring. I have lots of catching up to do!!
