With the release of the new Sierra 116gr TMK. I put this together.
Oal of the bullet is 1.375
6.5-284 Peterson brass necked down
Bullet seated around 3.150" puts the boats tail at the bottom of the neck.
A buddy has a 150 freebore reamer from Manson. I sent him some bullets.
Jam in his setup is 3.0965"
Will probably have a 24" barrel spun up

Might just be a fun bullet in a 6 PRC, elky's look out eh

Glad to see this only requires a 1/7.5 twist! I might try it in my 8 twist 6-284. Where in the 806 are you? I farm around happy and canyon.

When either of my 6mmRAI goes out, I'll have to rebarrel with a 7.5" and give these a try.

Having burned up several 6mm-284 barrels, a 24" barrel? IMO this over bore cartridge should have at least a 26" and 30" is even better!

Sierra says the BC of the 116 is G1 .609 / G7 .305 making it one of the highest BC bullets on the market.
What kind of barrel life are you seeing. This is a "fun" barrel build probably won't get shot much. 24" with a suppressor.

I got almost 700 rounds out of my 26" Kreiger but I kept it clean and didn't let it get too hot and only did a very short load development. Next to the 22x6mm Remington, it was the most fun varmint barrel to shoot which lasted about the same amount shooting 55 grain bullets at 4020fps. Truly devastating on groundhogs.

The last barrel was a 5R 7.5 twist Bartlein 30" long. I pushed the 105 Berger to 3480 fps with a case full of RL-33. It lasted 1040 rounds. Fired no more than three at a time and cooled it frequently using CO2.
Used it once on a coues wt @ 525. Killed that small deer handily.

I used that barrel to learn about what bullets and powders worked best. Wasted a great deal of time with the 115 DTACs which never shot to my satisfaction.

I continued with the warm RL-33 load using the 105 Bergers to round count 1040. At this point the barrel would require multiple foulers then shoot fine for perhaps 8 rounds then the group size would open up. Bore scope view showed a horror show of cracks/crazing plus long fissure like cracks running longitudinally with bore. It was not fun to clean either.

The lesson with the 6mm-284 is find a load and stick with it!!!!!

I chopped of 6" and threaded and rechambered. It didn't do well so was removed and is sitting in the discard pile.
