.45-70 Grizz Defense

I don't have 5 pounds but found 1 pound for sale awhile back and bought it.I think it was Powder Valley as they had IMR4350 also and bought a few 1 pound cans of that also.

IMR 4350 I have used that powder in 30-06 for 45 years………most excellent in 338 win with 225gr and 300 Win Mag with 150/165gr. A truly versatile powder and very popular on my shelf since the early 70's. Long Live IMR 4350. Sorry about getting off subject !

Like alaska said about 4198. I saw it last time I was there.

I have a bunch……a big bunch of 4198! I was so happy with RL 7, I didn't want to develop a new load!

I'm not that many years from "kicking the bucket" …..so, I probably should start burning the 4198! memtb

I still have some 4198 in a can left.I was told that as long as it is sealed it will last a life time and still have some 3031 too as that used to be my go to load for 45-70 back in the 1970's.
I really need to find some 45-70 brass.

Take a look at Blue Collar Reloading! They are pretty good folks to work with, and they may have some brass! memtb

Use my load data above with IMR 4198 it will save you some time it's not a Top Vel load like for the Ruger 1 but great in the Marlin . Only brass I suggest is WW and Starline great capacity.

That is a Marlin only load and of course if you have a Ruger No 1 in 45/70. Reloader 7 @ 51.8 with 350gr Hornady RN is very accurate in 20" Guide Gun and a 2000 fps load. That is the area where the 45/70 starts to shine.

Could not find any 45-70 brass anywhere so I went through some old boxes and found an unopened bag of RP cases of 45-70 I bought at Cabelas 6-8 years ago.
They will come in handy when the new Mold arrives.
