416 RM recoil reduction.

I been thinking about doing something about my 416 RM. Either change the stock to a synthetic or like someone once wrote here I think to cut an inch of the barrel. Now what difference would it make in the trajectory if one would cut an inch of the barrel? Any ideas. Please let me know. Regards Stefan

To reduce felt recoil, trimming the barrel won't do much, maybe 25fps per inch reduction.
Fitting a Pachmeyer Decelerator recoil pad may be the best option.
Normally synthetic stocks are lighter than timber stocks, generally speaking.
You can add weight, add a mercury recoil reducer in the butt, they weigh 1 pound generally.
You could add a brake to the muzzle.

You can order H-S Precision stocks with mercury in the stock and it is amazing how effective it is...you also have to carry the weight. A brake will help too, but there is no free lunch when you are pushing 400 grain bullets. Every action has an opposite and equal reaction.

Mercury does help mitigate recoil, and as mentioned, adds weight. For me, perhaps the worst thing about the mercury is….. it negatively alters the balance of the firearm, at least in my very limited experience! memtb

IMO…..that's a little light for cup and cores, now in a mono…..potentially a good answer!

Well it is possible to use a suppressor but then iron sights are off.

No I didn't do that. I have friends who are in Africa and who has been in Africa there I got the info about the muzzle break.

But then again optios vary as much people that is for sure
