I am building a longrange rifle 338 snipetac I am looking for any info on the best bullets to use for hunting. One that can holdup to the 3300-3400 velocity.I would like to stay around the 300 grn bullet.I have Sierra smk and some berger otm I would like to know if there are any others that might work to try. Thanks Jim

You're looking for 3400 fps with a 300 grain bullet? Wow.
I know the loads on a .338 Edge are from mid 2700's to mid 2800's, with a 300 grain Berger Elite Hunter. I don't think the OTM bullets are meant for hunting, even though they might work.

I have been researching thee 338 cal. myself. I think the Rocky Mountain Bullets could be some to look at they are designed just for the 338 cal.
Good luck and keep us posted.

I can never seem to find these guys. Got a link?

It would be hard to beat the bullets you already have! I have taken many game animals with the 300 SMKs.

This last year I was fortunate to take 3 deer with the 300 Berger OTMs out of my Edge at a velosity of 2,820 fps. 1st one shot at 50 yards. Bullet retained 50% weight. 2nd one shot at 585 yards. Bullet when through leaving a nice 50 cent/half dallor exit. It expanded well considering no bone was hit. 3rd one was shot at 1,697 yards. Bullet hit right behind shoulder and went through both lungs and exited and did not expand. I shot the deer a second time and hit bone and got great expansion and penetration as the bullet exited as well.

Considering the extra cost of the custom offerings its hard to beat the Bergers. I will be sticking with the Bergers for now. Just my thought of course. Best of luck to you.

Solids. Forget about inadequate BC, BC goes up with velocity.

Barnes, Cutting Edge and GS Custom.

Barnes web site/news letter just reiterated that there is no velocity limits with copper.

Barnes has: 265 TTSX and 285 LRX.

Cutting Edge Bullets has: Lazers https://cuttingedgebullets.com/cgi-bin/commerce.cgi?search=action&category=LAZR and MTH https://cuttingedgebullets.com/cgi-bin/commerce.cgi?search=action&category=1338

GS Custom has: HV GS CUSTOM BULLETS - Load Data for HV Bullets and HP GS CUSTOM BULLETS - Specifications for use in 225 and 250

Try a search on 338 big baer in up right lrh.Joel Russo has spent considerable time and they hold shoots at a mile. He never got GS bullets to stay concistant. They have shot best groups with SMKs.And great groups at that range.
