Guys I am just a couple days away from picking up my rifle from Lorenzo at Deadly Precision Gunsmithing. The new bulid is on a Howa action and will were a 27in Brux tube with a 1-10 twist all bedded in a new Manners. I have a couple boxes of the 185gr HVLD and two pounds of RL17 on hand that I want to get a load worked up with. I have Win and Lapua brass to use for testing. Has any one tryed this combo and if so what velocity are you getting? The load I was shooting before the the rebuild was pushing a 175HVLD @ 2750 with 45.5gr of varget in Lapua brass. Will I be able to better this combo with the RL17 and the 185s or are they to light for the slow powder? When I run the numbers I only need to get around 2650 with the 185s to best the the 175 load. I can run em out to 2.875 and still fit and feed them in my mag.
