Picked up some of the 174 gr HH for my big 30, hoping to get 3500 - 3600 fps with accuracy, It'd be a heck of an elk load.

I have taken several elk with a 308NM using 165gr Nosler BT or Accurbond. Pushing 3320fps in a 26" barrel. I use a 338WM in Ruger Mark 11 in a 24" barrel. Again using 200gr Nosler B.T or Accubond @ 3220pfs. Twist rates at 10 I believe.
What neck interference are you using and are you crimping
BB Adg brass .0025 nt non coated and no crimp yet try other things first 1 step at a time.
Pull the expander ball, I'm betting this will solve your problem, and as always….. LEE FCD

It's seems kind of strange; only two OPS mentioned the 174HH. When I bought my Tikka T3X 300WM/1:10", I contacted Steve Davis and he recommended the 174. He said they developed it specifically for rifles with short mag boxes. Fast forward, I'm getting 1/2" groups reliably at 100 yds with 76.5 gr H4831SC at 3100 fps. Plan to use it for moose in Newfoundland this fall and elk in WY in 2024.
