300 grain Berger

I know that most hunting vld's and other high B.C. bullets like to stay over 1800fps for good performance in long range hunting. I am curious what the FPS needs to be on the 300 grain OTM tacticals for them to be good on game. I know they kill ground hogs and small stuff out past 1500 even if the speed drops down around 1400 or slower just because of the size of them. but for deer sized game am I still limited to the "1800fps"

You may wish to consider an alternative:

(1) the Berger 300 gr Elite Hunter or

(2) the new CE Lazer 300 gr - see the "announcement" article on LRH. So far nothing posted on their site - which I've e-mailed Dan about (...when?).
