just a wild thought the other day. I have a bunch of 215 Berger's for my 300 mag and thought why don't I try them in my .30-06?

Does anyone have any good loads using h4350 or rl22? These are the powders I currently have.

Haven't tried it but RL22 would be the one I'd try first to get a little more velocity out of such a heavy round. I'd start around 55 grains and work up and hope I could find an accuracy node around 2500-2600fps.

I haven't tried the Bergers but the Amax 208s and 58.5 grains of RL22 in my rifle are super accurate. I have been up to 61 grains of powder but it wasn't good.
Regards

I started to see primer flattening at 55gr of h4350 with the 215 and Rem brass.
3.605" coal, +.020"
There was a node at 52-53gr

sprinkle it with some RL 26 and you'll likely be pleased with the results.

Do you have the load you used as a starting point? It's not nice to dance around skimpy and not give it up:(

I see folks using it in a creed, I wonder if a 308 may do any good.

Have an 11 twist with a 22" tube. So wasn't very stable. Never checked velocity. Got up to 57gr with H4831.

I have used the 210 hvld with RE17. Topped out at 51gr/2564 fps for accuracy. It will go higher but wasn't good enough.

I saw temp swings and loss of accuracy with those temp swings so gave up on the RE17.

That's why I am curious about the RE26 sprinklys...

I don't run the 215's, but I do run Hornady 208 ELDM with RL26 "Sprinkly's". 62 gr in a Winchester case with a Fed 210 primer. Runs out about 2750fps on a 22" barrel, so pretty hot load.
I have a 30 cal barrel and about 6k 06 cases. I was going to build a 30 mag but now with this info I might just do a 30.06 AI should net 2850 with Rl26. Since I have 3 8#ers I will just stock up on bullets till I'm ready

It won't stabilize a bullet that big don't even try it.

I bought some 240 gr Woodleigh for the 06. Just wanted to try them out.
Approximately 56.0 gr VV N560 gives 2400 plus a little. They will do an inch at 100 yds.

I haven't tried them at 200 yet, but according to calculations, 200 yd is max for expansion. They do pack a punch. If I get to hunt Nilgai in S. Tex, I am gonna use them.

Woodleigh's claim is that they developed this bullet for the 06 and using on feral cattle and buffalo.

I shoot plenty of 200's with I 4350... I see no reason you shouldn't have luck with your 30-06 with 215's as long as she's a 10" twist or faster. I do tend to shoot 165's and such more in the '06 (it's a garbage can; it'll eat anything I feed it decently well) and save the big bullets (225's etc.) for my 30rum's though.
