Anybody have pet loads for this bullet? I read somewhere that RL-17 is a good choice and I have several pounds of it. Let me know what you have had good luck with. Thanks

Contact Berger Tech support. I cannot speak in .30-06, but I have had very good success on .300 WSM with 215 Berger and RL-17.

If that's a 10 twist you're golden all the way up to 3200FPS if you can push it that hard. H4350 is good also and almost temp insensitive. The site I use shows it in maximum accuracy at 2700FPS.

My rifle is a 32 inch 1-9 twist for 1 mile use. So accuracy and velocity are very important. I chambered this rifle with a Serengeti chamber reamer from PTG. Thanks for the help.

The Hammer 213 is a good fit even at 3000FPS. It calls for 8.5 twist but the 9 will work and I highly doubt it will blow up. I'm using Bison Ballistics web site and plugging in bullet lengths, weight, velocity, twist and caliber. This way you match the bullet and speed to your rifle.

What realistic velocity are you expecting to propel the 215 Berger out of your .30-06? 2600 FPS for the 215 Berger is a realistic target velocity. I have a .30 Gibbs.

Does your scope/rail set-up have enough elevation for a mile?

There is no doubt that the 215 Berger will get you there. I am a big fan of Berger esp. the 215. However, you might consider going lighter:

Berger 215 (G7=.354, 1:10") - 2600 FPS MV: 1800Y = 981 FPS, 460 FT-LS, -1768"
BD2 195 (G7=.345, 1:10") - 2800 FPS MV: 1800Y = 1007 FPS, 439 FT-LBS, - 1517"

Good luck!

At 1 mile I'd try to get it to 2600 with the solid copper bullet. It will be stable in the 1:9. The barrel length helps to increase speed and hopefully enough elevation. I'd go with the 213gr hammer.

Haven't heard of any of them blowing up with all the testing of them that's been done. I'm seeing incredible speeds but it's gonna be hell on the brass.

Got this from Berger when they used to email from their book.

I used 57gr of H4831sc (yes I know it is over book max) at .010" off the lands. Never chronoed it but with your tube, may be worth a look. RL17 did some strange things. Shot really good at 70 degrees and at 35 it went all over, so gave up on it here.

I did also try Rl17 with the 210 at 51gr. Didn't chrono it either.
