Which would you choose and why?
Planning on running it out of a single shot Savage target action and a 28-30" barrel. Goals for the build is to reach a mile on steel and be able to carry at least a 1000 ft lbs of energy at 1k.

With the right throat length the 284 is the better choice, case design with proven accuracy, good brass (necked up norma or lapua 6.5x284) and will run with the 7rsaum with 10-12grns less powder and have a longer barrel life. With 30" barrels and a few select powders people are getting 2950fps with 180 bergers and close to 3100 with 168s.
