284 Win build

Building my 284 and need to choose between 8.7 or 9 twist. Don't know where I'll end up but want to try 150-180 grain bullets and see what she likes. Any suggestions on twist rate? This is a whitetail rig.

I'd go 1-8". Leaves the door open to use the heavier weights, and longer mono-metals without giving with in the 150-180.

I would agree with an 8 twist. I'm also looking at building a 284 for back country deer and elk and I'm going with an 8 twist

I put a 1/9 in mine but I live Co @ 7700ft. I hunt with 160gr AB and mine is build long action.
