Any new load data on the 284 win and 168 Berger. There is tons of info on the 180's but not much out there on the 168's. I have been playing with H4350 and the 168's. I dont want to even go down the RL17 road been there wont go back.

Bighorn Long Action
2.495 Chamber with Hornady Gauge.
Barrel Length = 26"
Case = Lupua Necked Up
Powder = H4350
Charge Weight= 52.7 Still working on it.
Velocities = ????

What are you guys running???

2.494"??? typo? Standard OAL is 2.8"

Okay you made me dig out my load data. I had my 284 win bullets seated to fit in a 3.1" SA mag box with OAL of approx. 3.050" Winchester brass fed 210 match primer barrel is 23". ALL bullets mentioned are moly coated.

Found an excellent load that worked well for our warmer part of the year with 150 nosler ballistic tip and 57 gr of RL-17 velocity 3100 fps

---------------------------------
The RL-17 load testing was done with a barrel with over 1300 rounds through it. I pulled it recently as it was getting too hard to clean. It was a Rem 7 mag takeoff setback and rechambered to 284 win.

The rifle is currently a 6mm-284 with a Rem 243 takeoff setback to remove recess and rechambered to 6mm-284.

------------
No doubt I'll again make another 284 win with all the components and dies filling a shelf.

Good luck on your quest.

Ross

2.495" is with a Hornady Compatitor and 168 gr VLD. That would be to the bullet orgive. Is what I meant to say.

Long Action
26" barrel
Lupua 6.5 x 284 Necked up
168 gr Berger VLD Hunter
Seated 0.010 off lands
H4350
53.3 gr
2842 fps

This load was pretty decent with around .4 accuracy. In a 8mph gross wind. Going to try to run it abit faster with 53.5 and see if accuracy goes up or down. Take in mind Im shooting a long action and my bullets are seated way out to get to the lands. Might try some H4831sc and see how it compares on Velocities and accuracy.

Finally got a decent load worked up.
