I have a magnum long action that I'd like to build a 284 caliber rifle that can swing a 20"-22" tube with a 5" suppressor on the end. Before you type 7mm-08, I'd like to shoot longer/heavier/mono bullets in the 155 hammer/169 hammer/180 berger flavor and get as close to 3000 fps as accuracy and pressures will allow in a 20-22 barrel.

From my research so far it looks like a 22" barrel minimum length in a short mag cartridge will be the recipe for my desired outcome.

7mm SAUM
7mm WSM
7mm SS (Sherman Short)
7mm SS Max

Does anyone have any direct experience with the Sherman cartridges in 20-22" barrel lengths? What bullets/weight loads are you using and at what speeds?

Has anyone specifically used the 7mm max with Hammer bullets? What is your load and experience?

Thank you.

I love the 7 SAUM but a Sherman Max sounds very tempting.

You might want to post this on the "Rifles, bullets, barrels and ballistics" forum, you'll get more responses there.
