280 Ackley with 150gr nose LRAB???

Have you looked into the Berger 168 VLD? They are an excellent bullet.

It may just be my luck but I tried the 150s in my 280AI and they were disappointing so I went heavier and well the same so I went to regular AB and they shot awesome. I did not like the BC so I went with Berger Classic hunters ,and another success .

I tried the 123 gr LRAB in my 6.5 284 and the same results they shoot allover the place ,and if I put in regular AB then I get a 1 hole group but again I went with Berger for high BC and have great results .

Not to be discouraging but I tried the 150 LRAB in my 7SAUM and they shot just MOA out to 300 yards then doubled in group size the further out I got went to Barnes 168LR and wow 6 inch 800yard group.

awaiting my rifle back currently, have considered berger but was leaning more towards 140,150 weights. open to what ends up shooting best. kind of a nosler fan, made in state I live in too. I do understand some of bergers positives. also awaiting a 300 RUM back its got some 230's waiting for it. just wondering if anyone has been shooting the 150's with success. shot some with my old barrel and shot ok,but no hunting results? planning on shooting out to 700 +/- .

Yea I found the regular AB to shoot way better just lower BC but on a good not I was tagging steel at 1000 with the AB in my 280 AI.

This is not a "developed" load...its just what I got when I checked the max safe load with a given set of components for accuracy...the one that is "out" was me, not the load...if you subscribe to the idea of OBT/barrel timing...this load just makes it to node 4 in a 24" barrel.

The rifle is a Nosler M48 Custom...

not sure I understand the timing your referring too. but would be happy with my hunting rifle being under .7 and getting velocity like that. never have used mrp either???

Norma MRP is a slower magnum powder. According to Hodgdon's burn rate chart, MRP is virtually identical in burn rate to Alliant Reloder 22 (AKA: RE-22, RL-22).

I use IMR 7828 SSC (closer to Alliant Reloder 25) in just about every one of my centerfire bolt-actions, with the exception of short-action calibers. 7828 SSC is a slow magnum powder, as well, and it produces excellent results in my .25-06 AI and .30-06 AI, as well as my magnum calibers.

Norma MRP results should be along the same lines.

Have u tried the New 145gr. LRX from Barnes? I could not and still can not get any berger 140grs VLd. So I tried the LRX. Very accurate bullet. I shoot this in my
7WSM.

How fast are you pushing those 150 LRAB's and how far off the lands did you find your best accuracy?

clam what is your load recipie? and vel?
I was using RL26 with 63.5 grains of powder and fed 210m primers getting 3234 fps with the 150 ablr's.
I was told that was to hot so now im looking for a different load.

Cowboy, my gun shot the 150 LRAB extremely well and seating depth was not all that critical however I think best accuracy was around .095 off the lands and velocity was 3000 fps..

Chad I was running 61.5 grains with the fed 210M primer in nosler brass..that's in my gun and chamber start lower and work up !
