I have a beautiful hand me down Remington 700 in 270 with SS barrel and DM.
I believe it to be barreled with a 1/10 twist as that was apparently common for 270.
I punch paper out pretty far (700-1100) with 2 6.5Cms but I also hunt with every rifle.
Question: I would like to be able to hunt and shoot with the 270 out to long ranges. Do you guys have some recommendations on a barrel length and twist rate that seem to fit the caliber (keep in mind it will be toted on hikes.) Also I have another option to upgrade a 7mm wsm ( I just dont like the kick and the potential lack of barrel life.) I do think it could be an outstanding long range gun however. I'll listen to any advice and appreciate yall taking time to respond.
