The dummy round will be headed to JGS tomorrow for the first 25 SST reamer. I put off doing a 25 for quite a while because of lack of good bullets but with the 131 Blackjack with a b.c. higher than a 140 Berger in 6.5 along with Steves Hammers, I thought it was time!
The 131 will have a coal of 2.860" to the lands and should reach close to 3300 fps with a 26" barrel. If you run the numbers, it will out do any 6.5 with a similar coal and have improved barrel life over a 6 mm. The 131 will also have lower recoil than the 6.5 140 or 150. This could be a real competitor in PRS and other competitive circles.
With Steves Hammer Hunter and Sledge Hammer bullets, there won't be much that couldn't be hunted with this little quarter bore. The ADG brass is proving out to be VERY strong and consistent, so whats not to like. 25 SST:131 Blackjack.jpg

That's a nasty-looking short action round right there!

Sorry to temporarily derail, but just curious if you have made any dummy rounds for a .257 Sherman yet?

    Indeed it does!

Rich have you though about also trying the Chinchaga Bullets? They have a 135 grain open or closed tipped bullet for .257 cals they also show a 140 grain. One of them might be a typo.

    Going in circles . . .

I started looking at six-point-fives because of the lack of high-BC bullets available for my 25-06. I was thinking of rebarreling to 6.5-06 (probably AI). While searching for info on that, I found this forum and the 6.5 Sherman. . . . Some time later I decided I really wanted a 6.5 Sherman Shortmag. So three years since first ordering the barrel, and the rifle is almost done. . . . And now there are high-BC 25-cal bullets.

It does look cool. Might have to come back to the 25 after a while. Really looking forward to the 6.5 SS right now. McMillan stock should be done in the next few weeks. Need to talk to Rich about dies, and some more brass.

25SST:130 Blackjack to lands.jpg You guys need to take a good luck at the ballistics on this baby. I'm tellin' ya, you'll be hard pressed to find it's equal! Get in on the Forster die pre order and get one going! ADG brass will be here in a week and the 6.5 version will work perfectly! Run the numbers on the 130 Blackjack at 3250 and see how it looks on the trajectory chart!

Some 25 SS are being built as soon as the reamer is ready. (About 2 months)

What is the difference between the SS and SST cartridges? I can't recall ever reading the differences...Probably my mind playing tricks on me, but for some reason I'm drawing a complete blank right now about the differences.
