25-06 Ackley Improved

Looking for someone to help save some time and components. I am switching to 110 ELD X bullets and hoping someone that shots that bullet in their 25-06 AI could tell me what powder they like, how much they are using and speed.

Just a curious separate question, does the 25-06AI run up to the 257Bee speeds? I have a couple 25-06s and love em!

No, it won't.
But it is fast and my Sendero 25-06AI will beat the original by 100fps and some change in some cases but my Lipsey Number1 257 Wea. is a good bit faster but it does have a 28" tube too!!

Try retumbo. Have not used that bullet but had used 110 accubonds with good luck. Nosler list retumbo with accubonds in 25-06 so might be able to start a little high on the chart!

I'm not near my reloading data book, but had good luck with H4831SC, N165, and N560 with my 25-06AI. I can PM you with more info when I get home.

I don't shoot the improved version but am a big fan of the standard version and have worked up loads for a fair number of the standard 06 and the weatherby, If you are looking to get max velocity out of That bullet weight or heavier look to powders that are slower RE 22, my rifle with 24 in tube exceeds 3400 fps with both the 110 gr accubond and the 115 btsx to the same point of impact with a charge 60 grs of RE 25, there was a posting a short while back the poster was getting over 3500 fps with the 110 gr Nosler and RE 17 out of the standard 06 but didn't say what the charge was, I'd try that powder myself if it was available.

I have no idea what the Weatherby does BUT I get 3250-3350 on the 117 SST. I get 3450's out of 100 gr barnes and 3750 plus on 75-85 grain bullets. RL 19 is what I have used with the heavier bullets. I am out of RL19 and where I live, Alliant powders don't exist. The 117 SST don't exist right now either but I was able to score a few hundred 110 ELD X's and more than happy to make them my new favorite load.

FULL disclosure - I cant stand load development. For me, it is a huge waste of time and frustrating. Loading a couple of bullets and driving to the range, setting up everything to only shoot a handfull of times, only to find out you could shoot 2 more grains ...... it is all not fun for me. Shooting is suppose to be fun.

I was hoping that someone might be able to just tell me that they shot this weight bullet with however many grains of powder and what speed to expect. It would probably save 2 trips to the range and a dozen bullets. And honestly, I don't care about the waste of bullets near as much as the lack of time I have to accomplish this.

I do have RL 22, and all the H powders and most IMR powders. I am powder rich and time poor!
Any real data would be very much appreciated.

Would you have any more specific data on how much retumbo you used and what velocity I can expect?

Need to remember NO TWO GUNS ARE THE SAME !!!! 24-26-28 in bbl, actions. chambers. throats, free bore all add's up. Brass and lots of bullets along with lots of powder and primers add's. Maybe give you some place to start !!!!
Been shooting mine for many a year now Parker A did my 25-06 AI back sometime in early 60's using 30-06 LC Match brass & 4831 powder & Nosler / Sierra bullets 110-to 117 gr back then if my memory serves me .Not too much use now with the 25-06 AI.

I knew that was coming after I hit the "post" button. I 100% realize that and appreciate the reminder. I do think that other real data would save a lot of time and at least give me some expectations.
For whatever reason, people on here hold back a lot of info. They tell you their gun likes H4350 but leave out how much, and what speed they are obtaining with what bullet. I know we are not shooting the same gun but if you don't give all the data then people might as well just tell me their gun likes gun powder and that I should start there. ( that's suppose to be funny )

My old .25-06AI was built before the heavy .257 craze and fast barrels.

28" 1:10" pushing a 115 HVLD over RL22 @ 3450, or 100 TTSX @ 3600.

Laser beam deer killer. I zapped quite a few with it.

The 25 AI only comes close to the bee if using 26" and under barrels in my opinion.
It's very efficient for sure but more powder with more time to burn is gonna win.
My good friend shoots that round extensively for all his hunting let me check with him and see?
