243wssm What twiste barrel ?

what size primes small rifle or large rifle ? Also what twiste barrel is the short mag ? Thanks for help. Joe

funny I spoke with a guy about a month ago that had two shoe boxes full of .243WSM brass, and 25WSM brass. He said that it took him over two years to accumulate about 250 cases in each size! Said a lot of load data is flawed, so be very carefull (?) Said the 25WSM was a better performer all the way around. Said he was getting about 3100fps with a 107 grain Sierra, but the accuracey load was closer to 2800fps! Bad thing was that he sold a perfectly good .243 Winchester to buy it because the barrel was shot out, and it would shoot the 107 Sierra just as fast.

The WSM brass is expensive! Grossly expensive. Has an oddball case head diameter. The guy I spoke with said he bought Lapua .243 brass for about the same price as WSM brass. He also shoots the .300WSM and the .338RCM, and they were great shooters. If you have not bought a rifle, I'd be looking at some of the others, because the the performance / value thing alone

I like the little wssm rifles. The win 70 coyote I have doesn't feed worth a crap with all three( not bad with two though) in the mag. It puts up good #'s for velocity (3300 fps with superformance with 100 grain bullet aint bad from a 25 wssm) and doesn't recoil, so my sons will probably learn to shoot centerfire with it. The wssm's are all large rifle primed, and the twist is conventional for the caliber. 10 twist for my 25, 9 ish for the 24, etc..
I bought ahead and accumulated 500 or so casings ( sorry, not selling this brass- most is loaded anyway) at 15$ a 50 when winchester was still pushing the round. That should shoot out the barrel I'd hope.

I will be honest with you, and can't see enough's difference between a 25WSM and a .250 Ackley to matter. Both will push a hundred grain bullet to 3300fps, but one is easier to come by.

I got a deal on the rifle and had wanted a coyote anyway. I'd have gone with a 243 win otherwise. Having a rifle and pistol in the same caliber is nice, even when you have to tote a striker pistol to do it (I had a 243 striker at the time). Some putz grabbed the 243 coyote I was looking at and bought it when I set it down for a second. The 25 is easier on the bore and faster anyway so I'd guess I'm ahead.
